현대중국어의 이중NP계사문은 ‘(一)個’의 사용 여부에 따라 ‘是NP' ‘是(一)個NP' 두 형태로 구분할 수 있다. 본고는 인지문법의 ‘유형’과 ‘실례’ 론에 입각하여 원형명사 술어는 유형을 나타내고 비한정NP 술어는 실례를 나타내며 각각 다른 종류의 문장인 서술문과 동등문을 구성함을 주장한다. 이와 같은 주장은 두 구문의 형태적 차이를 존중하면서 두 구문이 담당하는 의미, 화용적 차이를 좀 정밀하게 분석할 수 있게 한다.
Abstract
This study proposes a new analysis of the use of bare nouns vs. indefinite NPs in predicative position in Modern Chinese. Based on the theory of Langacker, we argue that bare nouns denote type and ascribe generic properties to subjects. On the contrary, we argue that indefinite NPs in predicative position denote instances. As for bare nouns, they compose predicational sentences which are distinguished from the equative sentences composed by the indefinite NPs. The distinctive pragmatic functions of indefinite NPs, such as episodic situation relevance, forgrounding and subjective stance marking functions are resulted from these semantic and syntactic distinctions between bare noun predicate and indefinite nominative predicate. This study also proposes that this is the case not only found in modern Chinese but also commonly found in other roman languages such as French, German and so on.
