Abstract
This essay analyze through The Young companion(liangyou) how the imagination of modern nation operates concretely upon body discourse and how modern representation of body and the discourse are constructed and how body discourse developed and changed in the context of society-culture in the late 1920s or the 1930s, which are different from that of the late Qing empire and the early republic. In this period, The signifier of body is reconstructed on the nation discourse, and sometimes form fairly complex spectrum for new understanding frame of modern civilization that is accompanied with discording with the logic of modern nation. On this basis, I will study on multi-meanings that letter and photograph formation each other in the Young companion(liangyou). Haipai literature share some codes of culture, so I will also mention "intertextuality" between The Young companion(liangyou) and it, and I expect to become clear the meanings of body politics in the modern civilization and the significance of Young companion(liangyou) in the modern chinese culture.
