Abstract

Cultural Imagination in Taiwan's New Literature During Japanese RuleBy Ji BiruiThis study's subject is Cultural Imagination in Taiwan's New Literature during Japanese Rule (It is especially the way and attitude of the perception of certain cultural objects in literature). This study chooses the writing in Chinese as an objective of research project, analyzes the changes of cultural imagination, including images of characters treated, different modes of imagination of Taiwan and Japan, tradition and modern time by writers in Chinese at different periods, the contents of imagination and inner contradiction, with a special attention paid to the function and modes of expression of cultural tradition in the literature of the colonized, as well as the issues of cultural identity.
