】Power, class, genderin Modern Chinese NovelsLee Yong-ja This study focused on analysing inequitable human relationships, i.e. domination, obedience and power, in a few modern Chinese novels.The animal world is governed by the principle of the stronger preying upon the weaker, but human and cultural society distinguishes good from evil and justice from injustice, and tries to correct them.Although peasants have sacrificed themselves for the sake of industrialization, modern society tends to leave them lagging behind as an eternal marginal community.Ah Q, Runtu, Lishunda, Chenhuansheng accept poverty, obedience and subordination as part of their destiny.However, a more invisible exercise of power is the moral and ideological power that digs into people's minds.The principles and ideology of feudal society have the power to control and tame peoples.Social class domination and gender domination are interlinked and intersect each other.
