초록

This book mainly traces the cultural exchange of the 20th century Korean and Chinese colonial Literati. The author is a professor of Ewha Woman’s University in South Korea, who has been continuously writing books and articles about contemporary Chinese intellectuals. In this book professor Hong is focusing on two Korean and two Chinese literati, who are Yi Yuksa(1904~1944), Kim Taejun(1905~1949), Lu Xun(1881~1936), and Zhang Ailing(1920~1995). I think professor Hong’s achievement in this book would be a close field survey inquiry, objective research, and his macroscopic interpretation. I believe this report of professor Hong would have a ripple effect in the area of modern East Asian research. The last chapter is about the ‘Dianshizhai Huabao(Pictorial)’ in concern with Chinese people’s viewpoint on colonial Korea, which include sympathy to Koreans and hostility against Japanese Imperialism. I think this book throw questions to us about historical continuity problem between traditional and modern times, Asian reconciliation, and Sinocentrism.
