육아성 고막염에 대한 레이저 치료효과

Abstract

Background and Objectives：A granular myringitis represents a localized granulation tissue in a tympanic membrane and recurrent otorrhea, but normal hearing level and impedance audiometry. The cause of this disease is unknown. A therapy using antibiotics and ear toilet has not been successful whereas CO2 Laser therapy has been satisfactory. In this study, we present our experiences of using CO2 Laser therapy to treat granular myringitis. Subjects and Method：We retrospectively reviewed 30 patients who have undergone CO2 Laser therapy for granular myringitis. Information were collected on age, sex, operation, number of therapy received , post-Laser therapy side effects and outcome of treatment. Results：Thirty patients (100%) showed complete responses. As a side effect of CO2 Laser therapy, the perforation of tympanic membrane (23.3%) was observed. However, the perforation of tympanic membrane disappeared after several months in all cases. Conclusion：The results show that CO2 Laser therapy is an effective and safe treatment for a granular myringitis. (Korean J Otolaryngol 2006;49:13-7)
