감성적 접근으로 본 마르셀 반더스(Marcel Wanders)의 키치적(Kitsch)공간 특성 연구

Abstract

Characteristics of the early industrialization period such as Western Manufacturization, Industrialization and Machine Age in the early 20th century, have focused on materialism and put value on standardization and uniformity by mass production system. However, today, society has showed overally diversified aspects and 'various experiences and sensibilities of individuals' have been being more stressed. These chronological changes get products and spaces out of standardized framework, causing visual novelty and pleasure and stimulate emotions of people. As one of alternatives to meet these emotional needs and diversities, an kitsch approach was considered and this kitsch has been being influenced on overall design. The study aims to analyze space by approaching kitsch expressive characteristics presented in space from the emotional perspective through space case of Marcel Wanders who is a designer and recently receiving attention due to a creative work. As a way of study, firstly, theoretical considerations on Marcel Wanders, emotion and kitsch have been conducted by performing literature review and analyzing previous researches and in chapter 3, emotional characteristics have been obtained by analyzing and listing the key words again proposed in the previous studies. Then, emotional expressive elements have been figured out by classifying the characteristics obtained. In addition, emotional characteristics of kitsch have been figured out and spatial characteristics have been obtained by analyzing the correlation between kitsch and sensitivity and then, key words have been obtained. Then, expressive characteristics of kitsch space have been examined by applying the five spatial characteristics obtained to the space of Marcel Wanders. The analyzed results showed that Marcel Wanders has made the kitsch space in terms of emotional perspective such as semantic symbolism, dynamic experience, heterogeneity from targets, dreamlike atmosphere and homesick of place. Therefore, it is expected this study will be used for a reference to determine concept and direction for design of the space which shows kitsch characteristics.
