모듈의 가변성과 미니셀 소재를 활용한 비정형적 입체 조형물 제안

Abstract

This study suggests a modular design as a way to satisfy modern people, focusing on the value of individuality and diversity. Personalization, customizing, self-interior, and 3D printing are keywords that reflect characteristics of contemporary people. Modular design, which allows respect for individuality and flexibility in space, it suggests a variety of uses of furniture or interior installations. By producing three-dimensional artwork, the combination of repetitive modules will produce a variety of stimuli and creative experiences. With introducing a material called, Minicel, researcher utilizes and increases of the materiality and attempt to apply to the field of furniture and space design. Beginning with the development of modular designs, research challenges on constructing dramatic figure through diverse combination and composition of modules. Making process was necessary to maximize the variability of modular design. Various cutting methods were considered, and the laser cutting was the most effective on time consuming and material saving. The results of this study are as follows. First, the researcher attempted atypical approach by breaking prejudice of standardized module system. Second, it demonstrated the possibility of creating a variety of forms with minimal module. Third, it showed the potential use of minicel material in design area. Lastly, by producing new sense of stimulus, it created a discussion about the boundaries of furniture, space, design and installation art. The study aims to fulfill one's artistic needs and enhance the emotional satisfaction on living.
