살롱의 콘텐츠 및 공간 요소 변화 - 일상문화공간의 살롱 중심으로

Abstract

This study set out to investigate salons as a research on their period changes, follow-up research on changes to their cultural functions and spaces, and analytical research on their content and spatial elements. The study categorized salons into daily culture, art and culture, and consumption culture spaces to analyze the spatial elements of salons. The study aimed to investigate the interpretations of content in the old salon culture spaces and changes to their spatial elements according to the changing interior styles with the primary objects of salons in the daily culture spaces where the early salon culture began. The salon culture represents a community gathering that began in the old daily culture spaces and developed based on the content combining various cultural phenomena with the styles in vogue in each period. Current salons have developed into significant interpretative spaces based on their combinations with various cultures according to periodic changes, which raises a need for research on the content of salon culture spaces. The research scope was restricted to salons in houses based on the periodic styles of interior space in vogue from the Renaissance when the first salon emerged to the present time. The following methodologies were adopted in the study: first, it interpreted the content of the salon culture to interpret the salon spaces; secondly, it analyzed the content types of salon spaces based on the literature materials, paintings, and photographs of salons' cultural spaces in the past; and finally, it examined how the characteristic design content and spatial elements of salon spaces developed according to changes of the times. The findings show that the content of salons as daily culture spaces was characterized by a combination between the life around the private culture of certain classes and the characteristics of period interior styles and decoration trends. Lighting equipments of light were applied to certain spatial elements of salons for landscapes and dramatic effects indoors. Based on these findings, the study reinforced the characteristics of "~salons" and proposed directionality for the development of content in salon cultural spaces, thus holding its significance.
