본 연구는 전통 탁본 예술의 조형적 특성과 미학적 가치를 현대 패키지 디자인에 적용하여 전통과 현대가 융합된 새로운 디자인 접근법을 제시하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 문헌 연구, 사례 분석, 그리고 디자인 적용 가능성 탐구의 세 가지 연구 방법을 활용하였다. 또한 이 연구는 탁본 예술의 개념과 디자인 가치를 심층적으로 이해하고, 탁본 예술과 현대 패키지 디자인의 통합 가능성을 더욱 탐구한다. 문헌 연구를 통해 탁본 예술의 역사적 배경, 조형적 특성, 그리고 문화적 함의를 고찰하고, 현대 디자인에서 이러한 전통적 요소를 활용할 수 있는 이론적 기반을 마련하였다. 사례 분석 단계에서는 국내외 패키지 디자인에서 전통적 미학이 현대적으로 재해석된 사례를 중심으로, 탁본 예술과 유사한 시각적 요소들이 디자인에 적용된 방식을 조사하였다. 마지막으로, 디자인 적용 가능성을 탐구하는 과정에서는 탁본 예술의 패턴을 현대 디자인 문맥에 맞게 변형하고, 이를 패키지 디자인의 시각적 요소로 통합할 수 있는 방법론을 제안하였다. 연구 결과, 탁본 예술의 간결한 시각적 표현과 상징성이 현대 디자인에서 브랜드 정체성을 강화하고, 소비자에게 독특한 정서적 경험과 문화적 메시지를 전달할 수 있음을 확인하였다. 또한, 전통적 미학적 요소가 현대적 맥락에서 감각적 매력을 넘어 실용성과 경쟁력을 동시에 충족시키는 디자인 전략으로 발전될 가능성을 제시하였다. 본 연구는 전통 예술과 현대 디자인의 융합 가능성을 탐구함으로써, 전통적 조형 요소의 현대적 활용에 대한 학술적 기반을 제공하였으며, 디자인 분야에서 문화적 깊이와 혁신적 접근을 조화롭게 통합하는 새로운 방향성을 제안하였다.
Abstract
This study aims to apply the structural features and aesthetic values of traditional rubbings art to modern packaging design, introducing a new design methodology that integrates tradition with modernity. We employed three research methods: literature research, case analysis, and exploration of design application possibilities.Additionally, this study summarizes the concepts and design values of rubbings art and further explores the possibilities of integrating rubbings art with modern packaging design.Through literature research, we explored the historical background, structural features, and cultural meanings of rubbings art, establishing a theoretical foundation for applying these traditional elements in contemporary design. During the case analysis phase, we focused on how traditional aesthetics are reinterpreted in domestic and international packaging designs, examining design applications with visual elements similar to rubbings art. Finally, in exploring design application possibilities, we proposed transforming rubbings art patterns to fit modern design contexts and integrating them as visual elements in packaging design. The research findings suggest that the minimalist visual expression and symbolism of rubbings art can enhance brand identity in modern design, providing consumers with unique emotional experiences and cultural information. Moreover, traditional aesthetic elements not only possess sensory appeal in modern contexts but also demonstrate potential for developing design strategies that satisfy both practicality and competitiveness. This study explores the potential for integrating traditional art with modern design, providing an academic basis for the application of traditional structural elements in modern settings, and proposes a new direction in the design field that harmoniously blends cultural depth with innovative methods.
