도요타 방식(Toyota Way)의 패러독스는 도요타 방식 자체가 끊임없이 개선되고 변화하고 있지만, 핵심개념은 변화하지 않고 그대로 있다는 사실이다. 끊임없이 프로세스의 새로운 시각을 학습하고 있고 서로 다른 환경에서 서로 다른 방법으로 적용되는 경우도 목격하게 된다. 국내·외 기업들은 도요타생산방식(Toyota Production System: 이하 TPS로 약칭함)을 지속적으로 벤치마킹하고자 한다. 전세계의 많은 기업들이 이를 따라 하기 위해 노력하고 있지만, 대부분은 실패로 끝났다. TPS를 통한 경영혁신의 성패는 전적으로 기업의 구성원인 사람에게 달려있다. 본 연구에서는 국내·외 실증연구 문헌과 자료로부터 TPS의 도입현황을 상세히 정리 분석하여 도입실패원인을 파악하였다. 도요타 기업문화가 여러 가지 도입실패원인 중에서 중요한 문제점으로 등장하므로 그 배경과 도입방법을 연구하였다. 이를 통해 본 연구는 도요타 기업문화를 토대로 한 TPS의 추진 및 구축방안에 기여하고자 하였다.
Abstract
The Toyota way itself is constantly improving and changing, but the core concept remains unchanged. This is a paradox of Toyota way. They are constantly learning new perspectives on the process, and they are also witnessed when they are applied in different ways in different environments. A number of domestic and foreign companies want to continue to benchmark the Toyota production system (TPS), and to follow and operate TPS, but most have failed. The success factor of management innovation through TPS depends entirely on people who are members of the company. This study identified the causes of failure in introducing the TPS through the literature review of domestic and foreign empirical research and case studies. In particular, Toyota's corporate culture is one of the most significant reason of failure that this study explored the background and adaptation of Toyota's corporate culture. Finally, this study is to explore the implications about Toyota's corporate culture focusing on driving and constructing TPS.
