초록
A tag question is a kind of question that requests confirmation of the statement from the listener(s). Most languages have tag questions. It is well known that English tag questions can be analyzed with yes-no question formation plus VP-ellipsis. Korean also has tag questions, but their syntactic behaviors are different from English counterparts and they cannot be explained with yes-no question formation and VP-ellipsis. Korean tag questions are also different from invariant tag questions in French or German. This paper demonstrates that Korean tag questions are different both from English-type tag questions and invariant tag questions in French or German. This paper also provides an analysis for Korean tag questions in which they are analyzed by yes-no question formation plus pro-form, not by yes-no question formation and VP-ellipsis as in English.
