The goal of this study is to explore students’ demotivation factors while learning English before and after college entrance and causal relationships among demotivation factors. The participants were sixty seven students at a university in Korea. The demotivation questionnaire survey and semi-structured interviews were carried out. The analysis results showed that there were significant differences in demotivation in four factors among seven demotivation factors: Factor 1 (English learning Failure), factor 2 (grammar-oriented learning), and factor 3 (material and difficulties), and factor 5 (learning equipment), where students were more demotivated in learning English while they were at primary and secondary schools than at the college. The results also revealed that two different SEM demotivation models were found between before-college and after-college demotivation factors, where the two models show different paths of causal relations among the factors.
