2024년 5월 동학농민혁명 관련 기록물이 그 역사적 중요성을 국제적으로 인정받아 유네스코 , 세계기록유산(UNESCO Memory of the World)으로 등재되었다 본 연구는 동학농민혁명을 역사.콘텐츠로 활용해 2022년 정읍에서 개관한 동학농민혁명박물관의 상설전시를 중심으로 역사 박물 관의 역할과 전시를 고찰했다 최신 문화기술(인포그래픽 실감 영상, VR 체험 등)을 활용하여 민중적 전국적 국제적 시각에서 동학농민혁명을 재해석하고 국가주의적 역사관을 넘어 미시적 관점 , 에서 동학농민혁명을 재구성했다 박물관은 전라 권역을 중심으로 역사전시와 교육 부문에 있어 중심적인 역할을 맡고 있으나 향후 국가적인 차원에서 지역적 한계를 넘은 역사적 의미로 자리매 , 김할 필요가 있다 이를 위해 새로운 전시 매체 도입 주변 자연환경 등과 연계한 이색적인 문화 프로그램을 통해 관람객에게 역사 콘텐츠와 그에 따른 공간적 가치를 전달하고 유네스코 세계기록유산 등재의 잠재력을 적극적으로 활용해야 한다.
Abstract
In May 2024, records related to the Donghak Peasant Revolution were inscribed on the UNESCO Memory of the World Register, marking its international recognition for historical significance. This study examines the role and exhibition methods of the Donghak Peasant Revolution Museum, focusing on its permanent exhibition following its opening in Jeongeup in 2022. The museum employs advanced cultural technologies, such as infographics, immersive videos, and VR experiences, to reinterpret the Donghak Peasant Revolution from the perspectives of the people, a nationwide movement, and an international context. It also reconstructs historical narratives from a microhistorical perspective, moving beyond a nationalist historical framework. Currently, the museum serves as a central institution for historical education and exhibitions in the Jeolla region. However, it must expand its scope as a national historical content provider to overcome regional limitations. To achieve this, the museum should adopt new exhibition media, implement public programs, and integrate its natural surroundings and historical sites. By doing so, it can deliver unique spatial value and historical meaning to visitors while actively utilizing the potential of its UNESCO Memory of the World inscription. In addition, the Humanities and Sciences Research Institute of Deokseong Women's University has a regional culture research center as an affiliated institution to facilitate contribution and communication to local social reality. In the future, the Humanities and Sciences Research Institute plans to contribute to academic development with close cooperation with its members and develop and promote new projects so that the development can be returned to the local community.
