이 논문은 『아타나시오스의 부활절 편지』(이하, 『부활절 편지』)1)에 나타난 영성의다양한 차원들을 그의 생애에서 주요한 사건들과 쟁점들과 연관시켜서 분석하는데 초점이 맞춰져 있다. 간단히 말하자면, 그는 영성을 구원론의 틀 속에서 이해한다. 그래서 그에게 구원의 과정은 하나님의 은총으로 인한 그리스도의 성육신과 그에 대한 인간의 응답의 결과로 나타나는 테오시스를 의미한다. 이 『부활절 편지』는 해마다 알렉산드리아 총대감독이 자기 교구에 보내는 회람편지인데, 신앙적 권면과 영성의 지속적인 경주를 당부하고, 성육신, 구원, 부활 및 승천의 전 과정을 강조한다. 여기서 아타나시오스의 영성의 특징이자 출발점은 바로 그리스도의 성육신이다. 이는 죄로 타락한인간을 구원하고자 하는 하나님의 구원 경륜에 따른 은총의 발현이다. 이 논문에서 분석된 영성의 차원은 성육신, 은총과 협동, 성서와 전통, 니케아 신학과 성례전, 구원론이다. 마지막으로 한국교회를 위해서 『부활절 편지』가 기여하는 바는 사순절과 부활절을 준비하는 신자들에게 고대교회의 성실한 신앙유산을 진지하게 재고하게 만들며, 구원의 전체 과정이 잘 드러난 성찬식에서, 특히 부활절에 수찬자들이 주의 몸과 살을먹을 때 마다, 그 구원의 은총을 새롭게 경험하게 될 것이라는 점이다.
Abstract
This Treatise is focused on the analysis of the spiritual dimensions of The Festal Letters of Athanasios, Archbishop of Alexandria, in relationship to the important events and theological issues in his life. Shortly speaking, he regarded the spirituality as the total process of the human redemption from the incarnation of Christ our Lord by the grace of Father to the human theosis (i.e. deification) as the best responsibility to His grace. In every new year, the archbishop used to write the Easter epistles to all church in his see, Egypt and Pentapolis, in order to encourage a faithful life and to keep the spirituality, and specially the total process of the human salvation, namely incarnation, redemption, resurrection and ascension of Christ. Here the distinction and take-off point of his spirituality is the incarnation, which is the very realization of the grace of God according to the economy to redeem mankind who was fallen into the sins. The dimensions of the spirituality analysed in this paper is incarnation, grace and cooperation, the Holy Scripture and tradition, the Nicene theology, and salvation. Finally, contributions of The Festal Letters to the Korean church would be an opportunity for seriously rethinking about the inheritance of the faith from the Early Church whenever the believers are in preparation for Lent and Easter, and a new experience of the redeemable grace whenever they will receive the body and blood of Christ in Easter Eucharist.
