Abstract

This study is aimed to examine the relationship of the positive emotion(PE), negative emotion(NE) and resilience(R) of the Christian students. For this the author collected the 335 data of questionnaires from the Christian students in Daejeon and carried out statistical analysis. It is resulted as follows. First, it showed that the differences of average scores in the PE, NE and the self-regulation skill of the sub-category of the R reveal statistically of significance in accordance to the sex, academic majors, and age of students, respectively. Second, it was shown from the correlation analysis that the relations between the PE, NE, R and three sub-categories of the R such as self-regulation skill, positive tendencies and interpersonal skill indicated strong positive correlation of statistical significance, while the strong negative correlation revealed between the NE and R, or NE and three sub-categories of the R. But it does not have any correlation between the PE and NE, implying each as independent parameters. Third, it resulted from examining the influence of the PE and NE on the R of the students that the influence of both PE and NE on the R(36.3%) indicated larger than the influence on the three sub-categories of R(19.2~28.1%), showing all statistically significant. It is expected that this result leads to the new awareness of the importance of the PE in order to improve the R of the Christian university students, and it will be used as a preliminary data for the interventions of the Christian counseling and education.
