초록
Evangelical Churches in Korea are challenged by fast changing society. Peter Berger, who has studied 20thcentury’s phenomenon of pluralism, observes that churches and their theologies are affected by the world outside. The changes in society make churches difficult to maintain the doctrinal convictions that were carried on for past centuries. The historical conviction of the finality of Jesus Christ is challenged by religious pluralism and inclucivism of the non-biblical ideologies. People are now living in a world where pluralism dominates. Resultantly, people wish for the ideal world where all religions come together to resolve the unending tension and competition. Pluralism is not only a worldwide phenomenon, but is one of the greatest challenges that church missions face. Christian theologians are concerned by the numbers of Christian theologians who claim the ideology of inclucivism (Although Jesus Christ is certainly the God’s channel for human salvation, God is able to save people without Christ) and religious pluralism(all religions have an equal value and one cannot criticize the other). There were two purposes in this study: First, the writer tried to evaluate the debate on the finality of Jesus within the theological circle and prove that the biblical doctrine of salvation is correct. Second, the writer emphases the necessity in changing the past mission strategies that may have been unilateral. The writer suggests the theology of religion for establishing a productive relation with other religion in the Korean society which has entered into a pluralistic society without compromising the biblical doctrine. He also advices Evangelical Churches to work together with other religions on various issues in current Korean society.
