아프리카 사회와 종교에 대한 고찰

초록

아프리카는 독특한 지정학적·다문화적인 성격이 나타나기 때문에, 대륙 내의 각 국가가 직면한 사회·종교·문화적 문제 역시 다양하게 나타난다. 그럼에도 아프리카 대륙의 다양한 특성들은 21세기 들어 아프리카가 세상을 놀라게 하고 있다. 따라서 아프리카를 이해하기 위해서는 아프리카의 사회와 종교에 대해 고찰할 필요가 있다. 그러나 광범위한 아프리카 대륙의 역사와 정치와 사회, 경제, 문화와 종교 등을 논의하기에는 한계가 있기 때문에, 본 고에서는 광범위한 아프리카의 다양성을 논의하는 대신, 아프리카 사회와 종교 일부만을 고찰하고자 한다. 아프리카는 3천여 개의 종족과 문화가 공존하고, 아프리카 사회의 상징체계는 매우 복잡하고 어려워 접근이 쉽지 않다. 그래서 그들이 가지고 있는 시간과 영적 개념에 대한 이해가 선행되어야 그들의 사회를 이해할 수 있으며, 아프리카 사회를 이해하기 위해서는 ‘아프리카인이 들려주는 이야기’를 경청하고, 그들의 건축물에 담긴 다양한 메시지를 파악해야 한다. 또한 여성할례라는 아프리카의 관습과 그 변화 양상을 살펴봄으로써, 삶에 대한 그들의 인식 변화를 알아볼 수 있다. 그리고 아프리카의 종교적 전통이라고 불리는 종교적 믿음과 관습, 기독교신앙, 이슬람교를 중심으로 고찰하고자 한다. 아프리카인의 사회는 종교적 관습과 전통에 깊숙이 관계되어 있을 뿐 아니라 이슬람교와 기독교의 갈등으로 인한 테러와 분쟁도 끊이지 않고 있다. 그러나 아프리카 사회에서 다양하게 발생하는 사회적 이슈와 종교의 문제를 아프리카인의 관점에서 알아보고, 해석학적인 측면에서 그들이 겪었던 문화적 문제들에 접근을 한다면, 아프리카의 발전은 보다 빨라질 것으로 보인다.

Abstract

Africa has unique geopolitical and multicultural characteristics. Therefore the social, religious and cultural problems faced by each country in the African continent also appear in various ways. These various characteristics of the African continent are surprising the world in the 21st century. So it is necessary to consider African society and religion in order to understand Africa. However, in this thesis, instead of discussing the broad diversity of Africa, only some aspects of African society and religion are considered. The reason is that there is a limit to discussing all of the history, politics, society, economy, culture and religion of the broad African continent. More than 3,000 tribes and cultures coexist on the African continent. And the symbol system of African society is very complex and difficult to access. So we need to understand their time and spiritual concept before we can understand their society. Also, in order to understand African society, we need to listen to ‘the stories of Africans’ and understand the various messages contained in their architecture. In addition we can recognize changes in their perception of life by examining the African custom of female genital mutilation and its changing patterns, Furthermore this thesis will focus on religious beliefs and customs, Christian beliefs and Islam which are called African religious traditions. African society is not only deeply related to religious customs and traditions but also terrorism and conflict due to the conflict between Islam and Christianity. However if we look at the various social issues and religious problems that occur in African society from the perspective of Africans, and approach the cultural problems they experienced from the hermeneutic point of view, then Africa is expected to develop faster.
