Abstract

At the center of today's civilization conflict, it lies the conflict between Christianity and Islam. it is not only a universal problem for mankind, but also one of the factors which negatively affects the spread of the gospel from a Christian evangelical perspective. In order to create a better situation, it is necessary to use common elements rather than focusing on each other's heterogeneous characteristics. Coincidentally, both religions are Semites, which originated in the Middle East, and are characterized by the importance of Abraham. Abraham's strong common denominator has led to Abraham's controversy over his eldest son's rights, and Islam's position to claim Ishmael's eldest son's rights is parallel to that of Isaac's. Therefore, this paper attempts to help the dialectic of the gospel by considering which son has appeared in Genesis 21:11. In addition to the dialectical purpose, the common denominator of Abraham was used to establish a missionary contact point for Muslims, and to make Christians aware that Muslims are also descendants of Abraham and objects of missionary work. After raising the issue of the introduction to Chapter I, Chapter II deals with Abraham's less known son, Ishmael. The paper roughly examined the perspective of Ishmael in Islam and looked at the perspectives of Sarah and God in the Bible. Moreover, the three religions derived from Abraham, Christianity, Judaism, and Islam were briefly examined to see how they interpreted "his son" in Genesis 21:11. Finally, the paper shows God's missionary view in which wants God's blessing through Isaac to be proved to the descendants of Ishmael through Christians, the descendants of spiritual Abraham. This paper is only a rough sketch for future research in terms of the depth and width of the content. However, based on this, in-depth research will eventually be conducted and is expected to serve as a cornerstone of help in Muslim evangelization.
