한국어 발음 교육에서의 수의적 발음 규칙에 대하여

수의적인 음운 현상은 그 적용 환경이 명확치 않고 비표준어와 관련된 발음이기 때문에 한국어 발음 교육에서 오랫동안 외면받아 왔다. 최근에는 현실발음 교육 경향에 따라 수의적 규칙도 교수 학습의 대상으로 논의되기 시작했다. 비표준발음이라고 하더라도 어떤 발음 규칙이 상황에 따라 적용되기도 하고 적용되지 않기도 하는 조건에 경향성이 있는 경우에는 학습자들에게 그 적용 환경을 분명히 구분하여 제시할 필요가 있다. 본고에서는 그러한 발음 규칙을 ‘수의적 발음 규칙’이라 칭하고 ‘초성 ㅎ 탈락’ 규칙을 예로 들어 살펴보았다. 대표적인 수의적 발음 규칙인 ‘초성 ㅎ 탈락’은 초급 단계에서는 이해 교육의 수준에서 제시되어야 하고 중급 이상의 단계에서 표현 교육 내용으로 제시될 경우 규칙의 적용 환경을 정확히 구분하여 교육해야 한다.
Abstract
Arbitrary phonological phenomena have long been overlooked in Korean pronunciation education because their application environments are unclear and they are related to non-standard pronunciations. Recently, with the trend toward teaching real-life pronunciations, arbitrary rules have started to be discussed as subjects for Korean language instruction and learning. Even if a pronunciation is considered non-standard, if there is a tendency for a certain pronunciation rule to be applied or not applied depending on the situation, it is necessary to clearly distinguish and present the application environment to learners. This paper refers to such pronunciation rules as 'arbitrary pronunciation rules' and examines the 'deletion of the syllable initial ㅎ' rule as an example. It is believed that arbitrary pronunciation rules in Korean pronunciation education should be taught in a more detailed manner, depending on the situation.
