초록
Till recent times Braudel’s assumption of the importance of the Ottoman Empire to understand the evolution of European history has been generally accepted but without any serious effort to put together Western and Turkish sources. The book by Niccolò Capponi tries to change this widespread stream, studying an important episode of Eastern-Western shared history from both sides. The battle of Lepanto, fought on 7 October 1571 by a Christian league and the Ottomans, is at the core of a work, which ranges over a wider variety of subjects from the previous situation to the aftermath of the struggle.
