Abstract
This paper introduces the program, “Let’s Play with Graffiti” focusing on the curriculum and its significance. it is developed as a part of “Self-expression Workshop through Art” which the researcher had run for 10 years for 5 times which targeted students. Visual literacy, an ability to know how to see and create an image, is both a goal and tool of education in this paper. which targets students. I address the differences among graffiti, graffiti art, and graffiti art classes. I also demonstrate working processes based on students’ self-expression and students-oriented spontaneity. The method of this lesson is based on playing with colors to express their mind through seeing and feeling with the right brain. The students will train the right brain which functions the sensibility, intuition, and relational vision. They will also receive training to balance rationality and emotion, to harmonize colors, and to develop creativity and improve self-respect. This learning process allows them to realize their creative nature as artists. Through this process, anyone can easily learn art. The graffiti art plays a key role in contributing to self-expressed visual art education. I suggest that graffiti art should be a fundamental curriculum to improve visual literacy.
