This dissertation is written in order to research for the characteristics of the Buddhist sutra Gasa style in two aspects. The first aspect is about the Buddhist sutra on which Buddhist Gasas are based, The second aspect is about the genre characteristics of Buddhist sutra Gasa styles and persona. Firstly, in the aspect of the Buddhist sutra on which Buddhist Gasas are based, what kinds of Buddhist sutra are included there: those are 『The lotus of the true law』, 『The Banyaparamita sutra』, 『The cause and effect sutra』, 『The parents favor sutra』, 『Ten ox herding pictures』, 『Balsimsuhangjang』, 『Gyechosimhaginmun』. The way of receiving Buddhist sutra in the Buddhist sutra Gasa style were five, those are composition and whole works summary, part extraction and empharsizing, changing and composition, part extraction and composition, forthright translation. Secondly, in the aspect of the genre characteristics of Buddhist sutra Gasa styles and persona. Three kinds of genre are the objective, the epic, lyric, which were developed to the objective genre. And three kinds of personas of the objective, the epic, lyric Buddhist sutra were becoming the persona of objective Buddhist Gasa. Even though I studied the characteristics of the Buddhist sutra Gasa style in two aspects. But there could be the other things to study about these kinds of theme. I might continue researching the other kinds of theme next time in the near future.
