지속가능발전 개념과 목표의 박물관·박물관교육에의 함의

이 글에서는 지속가능발전이 무엇이고, 박물관과 어떠한 관련이 있는지 알기위해 지속가능발전의 개념의 변화, 환경․교육․문화 측면에서의 지속가능발전 논의, 박물관·박물관교육에의 영향을 검토하였다. 연구방법으로 다양한 국제기구 등의 협약 및 자료를 중심으로 한 문헌연구를 진행했고, 다음과 같은 연구결과를 도출하였다. 첫째, 지속가능발전은 인간의 삶에 적합한 곳으로 지구를 유지하기 위한 것으로, 현세대와 미래세대라는 세대 간 개념을 기초로 한다. 2015년 유엔은 지속가능발전 목표를 발표하였는데, 이는 지구를 치유와 보호하며, 우리의 세상을 회복하는 하는 방편이었다. 둘째, 지속가능발전의 요소 중에서 환경, 교육, 문화 부분은 박물관에 영향을 미친다. 지구의 환경 문제는 지속가능발전 논의의 출발점이고, 지속가능발전교육은 환경, 경제, 사회가 균형을 이루면서 문제를 해결하는 노력이며, 문화는 문화다양성에서 역할을 담당한다. 셋째, 유네스코는 2015년 박물관과 컬렉션에 대한 보호와 증진 제언에서 문화, 문화다양성이 지속가능발전에 연결됨을 명시했다. 2023년 현재 국제박물관협의회와 각 국제위원회 등은 지속가능발전에 참여하기 위해 실천계획을 작성하고 있다. 지속가능발전의 실천은 박물관·박물관교육과 직접적으로 연결된다.
Abstract
This article examined what sustainable development is and how it is related to museum. The concepts and goals of sustainable development were summarized and were discussed in terms of environment, education, and culture. First, sustainable development is to maintain the Earth as a suitable place for human life. In 2015, the United Nations announced its Sustainable Development Goals. The goal is to free mankind from poverty and scarcity, to heal and protect the planet, and to make the world resilient. Second, among the elements of sustainable development, the environment, education, and culture affect museums. The Earth's environmental problems are the starting point for discussions on sustainable development. Sustainable development education balances the three areas of sustainable development. Culture plays its role in securing cultural diversity. Third, UNESCO stated cultural diversity is linked to sustainable development. ICOM is drawing up action plans to participate in sustainable development. The practice of sustainable development is linked to museum education.
