Abstract
The purpose of this study is to theoretically analyze Lao Tzu's idea of nature from a parental education perspective and explore its implications for early childhood parental education. For this purpose, a literature review method was employed to examine Lao Tzu's Tao Te Ching, prior research on his philosophy of nature, and previous educational studies. Regarding Lao Tzu's idea of nature, it was explored the concepts that the Tao follows the example of ‘self-so’(道法自然), the Tao gives birth to them and Virtue nourishes them(而常自然), the act of conforming to nature(無爲). Applying these insights to the context of modern early childhood parent education led to the following considerations. First, parents should accept their children as beings possessing naturalness and observe them with patience to encourage spontaneity. Second, parents must recognize that the parent-child relationship is one of mutual dependence, not possession. Third, parents should cultivate a parenting culture with a mindset as humble and non-competitive as water. Fourth, parents must adopt an educational perspective that nurtures their children's potential through the art of emptiness; letting go of self-perception, self-righteousness, self-praise, and self-conceit. This study confirms that Lao Tzu's idea of nature provides profound insights into the direction of child education for parents of young children in this era. It possesses universal value that is fully applicable as a new philosophical foundation for modern early childhood parenting education.
