In order to diagnose and control to a disease, it is necessary to quickly recognize the disease situation and apply appropriate treatment for the cause. One of the most common parasitic diseases of the year in cultured olive flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus), which has the highest production among farmed fish species in South Korea, is Scuticociliatosis. Scuticociliatida have not a complicated life-cy- cle, and infection begins from the body surface of fish, and the early clinical signs were observed externally. Therefore, early recognition and control of the infectious organisms can prevent the spread of the illness, so it is very important to accurately know and diagnose the signs in the early stages of disease. This report classifies various signs according to the progression of scuticociliatosis with the signs such as discoloration, erosion, and ulcer identified in the body surface, and suggests a propi- tious control timing to aquaculture managers.
