초록
This study assessed the potential sanitary impacts of dry streams along the coast of Jeju Island on coastal waters by transporting terrestrial pollutants to surrounding coastal waters during rainfall. Nine dry streams were designated and 15 coastal seawater survey sites were selected. A total of eight sites (120 samples) were surveyed from January to August 2025. The average total coliform count detected at the 15 survey sites was <1.8-22.0 MPN/100 mL, while the geometric mean and 90th percentile for fecal coliform counts were 1.9 and 2.6 MPN/100 mL, respectively. None of the samples exceeded 43 MPN/100mL across all survey sites. These results suggest that the seawater quality in the southeastern part of Jeju Island (Pyoseon-Hyodon) is microbiologically sound and meets the clean seawater quality standards.
