We show the existence of infinitely many rational homology balls embedded in Milnor fibers of certain cyclic quotient surface singularities, where the rational blowup surgeries performed on these balls cannot be achieved through ordinary rational blow-ups from the Milnor fibers in which they are embedded.
Abstract
We show the existence of infinitely many rational homology balls embedded in Milnor fibers of certain cyclic quotient surface singularities, where the rational blowup surgeries performed on these balls cannot be achieved through ordinary rational blow-ups from the Milnor fibers in which they are embedded.
