진포대첩의 역사적 의의와 재현행사 활성화방안

Abstract

The Gunsan & River Geum-gang Estuary used to be not only the center of marine transportation during Goryeo Dynasty, but also the essential spot for land and water traffic. Furthermore, since it was the hinterland of granary zone in the Jeolla & Chungcheong Province, it was always the target of invasion by Japanese Raiders. It also became the place where strong resistance against such invasion occurred. Among the representative places was the Jinpo Sweeping Victory during the late Goryeo Dynasty. Likewise, in connection to the Jinpo Sweeping Victory in and around Gunsan Area of River Geum-gang Estuary, the area of Jeonbuk & Gunsan used to hold a comprehensive Festival under the name of ‘Jinpo Sweeping Victory’. It was based on the idea that ‘Jinpo’was an ancient place name of Gunsan. Every since 2005, the Jinpo Sweeping Victory has been held every year. On the other hand, some within the local circles of Gunsan Area have recently brought up a problem for national-wide spreading beyond the small celebrating event that has peen passing down the Jinpo Sweeping Victory like the existing revival event. That is to say, the need to devise an activation plan had been raised. The activation plan can include a theme, story, and a program to inspire the local residents’pride, and furthermore, sublimate it as a national event with visitors' participating in it. Therefore, while shedding new light on the historic significance of Jinpo Sweeping Victory, we should try to suggest recasting the existing event of Jinpo Sweeping Victory (including restructuring the event and performance and its extension range, program creation, the revival of cannon, weapons as well as costumes experience, installment and operation of permanent exhibition hall, storytelling and making a film version and so forth) and other connection & development plans.
