이 연구는 ‘필자의 정체성은 어떻게 구성되고 있는가?’에 대한 답을 찾는 것을 목적으로 한다. 필자의 정체성은 그가 사용하는 언어와 깊은 관련이 있기 때문에, 이 연구에서는 쓰기 수업 경험에 대한 생활담을 자료로 하고 근거 이론의 방법으로 패러다임 모형을 구축하여 학생 필자들이 구성하는 정체성에 대해 논의하였다. 그 결과, 학생 필자들은 ‘고독한 필자’로 자신의 정체성을 인식하고 있었으며, 이러한 인식에는 ‘쓰기 수업의 부재’, ‘교사가 원하는 방식의 글쓰기’, ‘학교 밖 문식성’, ‘교사의 노력’ 등이 관련이 있음을 확인하였다. 이러한 현상과 조건들이 맞물리면서 학생 필자들은 학교의 가치를 ‘수용’하거나 ‘저항’하는 모습을 보이며, 필자로서 자신의 현실적 모습에 대해 불만을 가지면서도 동시에 ‘좋은 필자’가 되고 싶다는 열망을 드러내는 것으로 나타났다. 필자의 정체성을 한 마디로 단정 짓는 것은 불가능한 일이다. 그러나 교육 본연의 관심이 인간에게 있음을 생각해 볼 때에, 필자의 정체성을 규명하기 위한 노력은 계속되어야 할 것이다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to look for an answer to "How is the identity of a writer constructed?". Given the close connection between the identify of a writer and the language he or she uses, the study gathered the students' life stories about their experiences with writing lessons as data, built a paradigm model as a grounded theory, and discussed the identities the students constructed. As a result, the student writers regarded "a solitary writer" as their identity, and their perception was related to "absence of writing lessons," "the writing style the teacher wants," "out of school literacy" and "the teacher's efforts." As those phenomena and conditions encountered one another, the student writers either "accepted" or "resisted" the school values and had complaints about their realistic aspects as writers while exhibiting the desire to become "good writers". There is no defining the identity of a writer in a word. Considering that the true interest of education lies in people, however, there should be ongoing efforts to identify the identity of a writer.
