구술기록은 한국 현대사에서 기록으로 남지 않은 역사적 사실을 보충하거나 대체하는데 중요한 근거로 활용되고 있다. 또한 기존의 획일적인 역사 서술을 비판하고 비활성화되어 있었던 다양한 공동체의 역사 연구를 활성화하는데 결정적인 역할을 하였다. 사립대학 소속의 기록물관리기관인 한국외국어대학교 역사관에서느 구술사 방법론의 이러한 가능성에 주목하여 2009년 설립 이래 꾸준하게 구술기록 수집 활동을 진행해 오고 있다. 그리고 수집된 구성원들의 기억을 통해 대학의 결락된 역사를 보완하고, 활용을 통하여 구성원들의 역사·문화 정체성 형성에 기여하고 있다. 이 글에서는 대학기록관에서 수행한 구술 프로젝트의 방법론과 함께 다양한 성과와 실무적 고민, 앞으로의 과제 등을 소개한다. 그리고 이러한 논의를 더욱 확장시켜 상호 협력과 공동 작업을 전제로 한 공동체 역사 다시 쓰기 작업의 방법론적 가능성을 모색하고자 한다.
Abstract
Oral history archives has been used as important grounds to supplement or replace historic facts whose records remain no longer in korea. It has also played an important role in the criticism of the existing historic descriptions and the activation of research on the history of various communities that had been inactive. HUFS(Hankuk University of Foreign Studis) Historical archives, which are responsible for managing records at private universities, have focused on these possibilities of the oral history methodology and been collecting oral history archives consistently since their foundation in 2009. The collected memories of members have been used to supplement the missing histories of universities and conduct historical research on them in an even richer manner. This study introduced the methodologies of oral history projects by university archives along with their various achievements, practical trial and error, and future tasks. By expanding these discussions further, it set out to explore the methodological possibilities of rewriting the community history ansed on mutual cooperation and cooperative work.
