노근리사건 규명 · 노근리정신 정립과 기록의 힘 - 레코드 컨티뉴엄 및 공공역사 개념을 적용한 분석과 이해 -

필자는 노근리 학살 사건 규명 및 노근리정신 정립 과정에서 작 용하는 기록의 힘에 대해 레코드 컨티뉴엄(Records Continuum) 및 공공역사(public history) 이론을 적용하여 조명했다. 사건의 발생 시점에서 생산된 기록들, 사건 피해자 및 가해 군인들의 기억 과 증언의 구술 기록들, 이 사건을 기억하고 해결하기 위해 지속적 으로 노력하는 과정에서 새롭게 생산된 기록들, 다양한 기관들에 서 추가로 발견되는 기록들, 그리고 예술 · 문화로 승화되는 문화 창발 과정과 그 결과물로서 기록들의 성격과 사회적 역할에 주목 했다. 이 과정을 이끌어 가는 행위자들이 모든 기록들 사이에서 만 들어 내는 상호 연관 맥락과 상호 작용의 과정을 레코드 컨티뉴엄 과 공공역사 사이의 상보적 연계 차원에서 분석했다.
Abstract
The author applied the theories of Records Continuum and public history to shed light on the power of records and archives in the process of uncovering the No Gun Ri massacre and establishing the No Gun Ri spirit. Records produced at the time of the incident and in the process of continuous efforts to remember and resolve this incident, especially the oral records of the memories and testimonies of the survived victims and the soldiers who committed the massacre by shooting at the scene of the incident were investigated. The author identified newly produced records, additional records discovered in various institutions, and the nature and social role of records as a result of the process of cultural emergence that is sublimated into art and culture. The interrelated context and interaction process between all records created by the actors leading this process were analyzed in terms of the connection between Record Continuum and public history.
