소리명상의 불교적 기반과 적용

본 논문은 불교경전을 통해 제법관계, 소리종류 그리고 소리복합어를파악하여 소리명상 토대와 활용방안을 제시하는 데 주안점을 두었다. 소리는 구업 관련 계율, 바른 말과 그릇된 말, 나와 세계에 관한 귀, 소리, 청각의식, 초월적인 귀, 듣는 수행, 이구지, 염불, 구밀, 예경, 범패 등과 관련이 있음을 알 수 있었다. 또한 소리의 종류는 생명체와 사물 이외에도 시간, 장소, 가르침, 구업에 관련된 다양한 소리가 있음을 밝혔다. 특히 불교와 관련된 사성제, 팔정도, 사념처의 소리 등이 있음이 일반소리의 종류와 차이를 엿볼 수 있었다. 소리의 토대는 해로움을 주지 않아야 하고, 무상, 공, 치유, 치병의 기능, 수행의 도구, 깨달음이나 극락으로 인도하는 것으로서의 사상을 포함하고 있기에 이런 맥락에서 소리명상의 목표를 설정하는 것이 합리적일 것이다. 소리명상의 적용에서는 듣기명상과 소리내기명상으로 구분하고 가능한 방법과 밀교적인 프로그램 구성과 실질적가능 사례를 제시하였다. 소리명상은 진언명상 등의 다른 명상과 융합해서 소리통합명상으로 발전시키기 위해 다양한 프로그램개발이 절실히 요구된다.
Abstract
This paper focuses on identifying the relationships with dharmas, types of s ounds, and sound compounds in the Buddhist scriptures to provide a foundation and application for sound meditation. It was found that sound is related to the precepts of verbal karma, right speech and wrong speech, the ear, sound, auditory consciousness in relation to self and the world, transcendental hearing, the practice of listening, ground of freedom from defilement, chanting, esoteric speech, precepts, and Buddhist hymns. It was also found that there are various types of sounds related to time, place, teaching, and karma, in addition to living beings and objects. In particular, there are sounds related to Buddhism, such as the Four Noble Truths, Eightfold Path, and Mindfulness, which are different from general sounds. Since the foundations of sound include the ideas of non-harmfulness, impermanence, emptiness, healing, curative functions, tools of practice, and leading to enlightenment or paradise, it is reasonable to set the goals of sound meditation in this context. In the application of sound meditation, we have divided it into listening meditation and sound making meditation, and presented possible methods, esoteric programmes, and practical examples. There is an urgent need for the development of various programmes to combine sound meditation with other meditations, such as mantra meditation, and to develop it into sound integrated meditation.
