초록

We investigated the effects of sit-to-stand and pelvic control exercise on the structure of the medial gastrocnemius, spatiotemporal gait variables, and pelvic symmetry index in spastic hemiplegic children. Thirteen participants were randomly divided into two groups, and the experimental group (n = 6) [4 males/ 2 females, age = 9.00 ± 0.89 years] received sit-to-stand and pelvic control exercise, and the control group (n = 7) [5 male/ 2 female, age = 10.17 ± 1.72 years] received general physical therapy. Ultrasonography was used to evaluate the structure of the medial gastrocnemius, and BTS G-Walk was used to evaluate gait and pelvic symmetry index. As a result, the difference in the fascicle length of the medial GCM was lower in the control group (p < .05). In the spatiotemporal variables, the difference in the step length was higher in the experimental group (p < .05). The step length of the experimental group significantly increased within the group (p < .05). The difference in the pelvic symmetric index was higher in the experimental group (p < .05). Therefore, sit-to-stand and pelvic control exercises can be suggested as interventions that can improve gait and suppress compensatory patterns in children with spastic hemiplegia.
