Abstract
This study aimed to compare and analyze differences in body composition, physical fitness, and hand-eye coordination among male youth athletes participating in tennis, badminton, and table tennis. A total of 49 male youth athletes from D Metropolitan City, each with over two years of experience (tennis: n = 15, badminton: n = 20, table tennis: n = 14), were assessed using InBody analysis, physical fitness tests, and coordination evaluations. A one-way ANOVA was used for statistical analysis, and Scheffé’s post-hoc test was conducted for variables that showed statistical significance. The results indicated significant differences in BMI and body fat percentage, with tennis players exhibiting the lowest values. Regarding physical fitness, significant differences were observed in sit-ups (muscular endurance), side-steps (agility), and sit and reach test(flexibility), with tennis players demonstrating superior performance. However, no significant differences were found in grip strength, reaction time, or hand-eye coordination. These findings suggest that physical development in youth athletes varies depending on the sport-specific demands and developmental stage. Early training that focuses on agility and flexibility, followed by strength development after puberty, is recommended. This study provides practical insights for designing sport-specific training programs and injury prevention strategies aligned with the Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model.
