대한민국이 초고령사회로 진입하면서 노인 범죄가 중요한 사회적 문제로 주목받고 있다. 본 연구는 2020∼2024년네이버 포털에서 수집한 3,374건의 노인 범죄 관련 뉴스 기사를 토픽모델링과 약신호(Weak Signal) 분석 기법을활용해 노인 범죄의 양상과 미래 변화를 탐색하였다. 분석 결과, 뉴스 기사는 ‘노인 학대 및 금융 사기’, ‘노인 안전과치안 활동’, ‘고령화 사회와 정책적 대응’, ‘노인 대상 강력 범죄와 법적 대응’ 네 가지 주제로 분류되었다. 각 주제에서예방 시스템 구축, 치안 협력 강화, 경제적 빈곤 해소, 경찰 대응 확대 등이 주요 약신호로 도출되었다. 본 연구결과는 대규모 뉴스 데이터를 활용하여 노인 범죄에 대한 사회적 담론과 미래 변화를 조기에 감지하고, 보다 효과적인치안 정책을 마련하는 데 기여할 수 있다는 점에서 의의가 있다.
Abstract
As South Korea transitions into a super-aged society, elderly crime has emerged as a critical social issue. This study explores the trends and future changes in elderly crime using topic modeling and weak signal analysis on 3,374 news articles related to elderly crime collected from the Naver portal between 2020 and 2024. The analysis categorized the articles into four major topics: elder abuse and financial fraud, elderly safety and law enforcement activities, aging society and policy responses, and violent crimes against the elderly and legal measures. Key weak signals identified across these topics include the need for preventive system development, strengthened law enforcement cooperation, economic hardship alleviation, and expanded police response efforts. This study contributes to the early detection of social discourse and future trends in elderly crime by leveraging large-scale news data, offering valuable insights for the development of more effective public safety policies.
