초록
Objective: This study aimed to provide basic data for developing educational and promotional materials that emphasize the importance of providing accurate information regarding tooth whitening. Methods: Data were collected from 227 university students in metropolitan D. The collected data were analyzed using a cross-tabulation analysis, independent sample t-test, pearson’s correlation coefficient, and logistic regression analysis. Results: Tooth-whitening experience, attitude, and knowledge level were significantly and positively correlated. The factors affecting the tooth-whitening experience were ordered as follows: subjective oral health status, satisfaction with tooth color, attitude toward tooth whitening, and knowledge regarding tooth whitening. The explanatory power of the tooth-whitening experience owing to these factors was 81.2%. Conclusions: These results suggest that it is important to increase oral health and knowledge of tooth whitening to ensure safe and satisfactory tooth whitening. Therefore, we suggest developing oral health education materials and exploring promotional methods that focus on providing useful information regarding the relationship between oral health and tooth-whitening, and foods that are beneficial for tooth-whitening.
