Abstract

This paper examines the present classification system of Sijo Poems according to some principles. The principles are 1) exclusion of the musical name, 2) the use of the titles: one-line Sijo, two-line Sijo, compound Sijo, 3)the use of the titles: ordinary Sijo, middle-style Sijo, prose Sijo. I classified Sijo poems by the consistency according to the above principles. The following is the result. 1) Sijo poems are divided into one-line Sijo, two-line Sijo, three-line Sijo, and connected three-line Sijo. 2) The three-line Sijo is divided into ordinary Sijo, middle-style Sijo, and prose Sijo. 3) The connected three-line Sijo is divided into connected ordinary Sijo and compound Sijo.
