Abstract

Kim Moonjip as a critic is to be evaluated in the context of the declination of Pro-Literature in 1930s and his taking a stand against Choi Jaeseo. - Characteristics of his Critic Theory: i) establishment of critic aesthetics to see critic as an art. which has been influenced by Kobayasi Hideo; ii) perception of criticism as a linguistic art and accentuation of right expression in the Korean linguistic tradition. Kim Yoojung was considered to be a best writer in this context.; iii) stress on the fleshness and the sensitivity of criticism. `Feeling', `Sense' and `physicalness' are among important elements of literature for him, which was provoked by Nietzsche.; iv) emphasis on the unity/balance of intelligence and emotion in literature, which has been common ground for the most of great writers for him. - Limitations of his critiscism: i) Contrary to his emphasis of the unity of intelligence and emotion, he failed to realize it. ii) Concrete methods for his creative criticism are very abstract and vague. Such ambiguity seems to be related to his self-identification of a writer, rather than a critic.
