A Study on the Structure of Poetic Esprit of Kim Hyun-Seung

This paper tries to ciarify the poetic esprit of Kim Hyun-Seung. One of the two important factors which makes poetic esprit of Kim Hyun-Seung is the spirit of 'Yearning for eternity and transcendental consciousness'. The other is spirit of 'realization of finitude and extinction consciousness'. 'Yearning for eternity and transcendental consciousness' does not necessarilly comes from christianity. Sometimes it is not related to christianity as is the case of 'Hymn for Life'. 'Realization of finitude and extinction consciousness' appears not only in particular period but all along his lifetime. It is worthy of note that sometimes two spirits appears simultaneously in one poetry and makes dynamic tension. That usually becomes the fundermntal power which makes the poetry successful as are the cases of 'Prayer in Autumn' and 'Absolute Solitude'. This paper tried to reach the core of the poetic esprit of Kim Hyun-Seung using the frame of reference, 'dynamic tension of polarities'. The arguement of this paper needs to be refined to have further pursuasive power. It is also needed to anyalize more works using principal concepts which are presented above. That's the author's task which should be resolved in the future.
