전북 겨루기 태권도 유병용 원로의 구술 생애사 연구

목적 본 연구는 대한민국 태권도 1세대 유병용(1933년생)원로의 구술 생애사를 중심으로 내러티브를 시간적 흐름에 따라 분석하여 태권도 발전과 무예인의 삶의 의미를 심층 탐색하였다. 방법 반구조화 심층 인터뷰를 통해 수집된 자료를 전사하였으며, 내러티브 분석틀에 따라 전환점, 주제 코드, 이야기 방식으로 결과를 도출하였다. 결과 태권도 초창기 기술 및 조직화 과정, 경기규칙 및 안전장비 개발, 무예 정신의 수호 등 주요 전환점이 확인되었으며, 유병용 원로의 경험은 태권도 1세대 헌신과 무예 정신을 담고 있었다. 결론 본 연구는 태권도 역사 연구에 생애사 내러티브 방법론의 유용성을 제시하였으며, 태권도 무예정신과 실전성이 조화된 전통의 가치를 오늘날에도 계승하는 데 의의가 있다.
Abstract
Purpose This study analyzed the narrative of the life history of Yoo Byung-yong (born in 1933), a first-generation taekwondo leader in South Korea, in chronological order to explore the development of taekwondo and the meaning of life for martial artists in depth. Method Data collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews were transcribed and analyzed using a narrative analysis framework to identify turning points, thematic codes, and narrative styles. Results Key turning points were identified, including the early stages of Taekwondo's technical development and organizational processes, the establishment of competition rules and safety equipment, and the promotion of martial arts spirit. Yu Byung-yong's experiences embodied the dedication and martial arts spirit of the first generation of Taekwondo practitioners. Conclusion This study demonstrates the usefulness of the life history narrative methodology in taekwondo history research and highlights the significance of preserving the traditional values of taekwondo, which harmonize martial arts spirit and practicality, even today.
