대학생의 불안정 성인애착과 연애관계 만족의 관계: 정신화 양식의 매개효과

초록

본 연구는 대학생 집단에서 성인애착(애착회피, 애착불안)이 연애관계 만족에 영향을 미치는지 살펴보고 두 변수 간 관계를 어떠한 정신화 양식이 매개하는지 확인하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 대학생 245명을 대상으로 성인애착, 정신화, 연애관계 만족에 대한 설문조사를 실시하였으며, 이 중 연구 참여 조건에 해당하는 216명의 자료가 분석에 사용되었다. 분석 결과, 애착불안과 애착회피는 서로 다른 정신화 양식과 관련되는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 애착불안과 연애관계 만족 간의 관계를 정신화 양식 중 정서 자각 실패와 경직된 사고가 완전매개하는 것으로 확인되었다. 이와 달리 애착회피와 연애관계 만족 간에는 직접효과와 간접효과가 모두 유의하지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 애착불안 수준이 높을 경우 왜곡된 정신화 양식이 연애관계 만족에 부정적인 영향을 주는 반면, 애착회피 수준의 증가에 다른 왜곡된 정신화 양식은 연애관계 만족에 영향을 미치지 않음을 의미한다. 본 연구에서는 성인애착 차원이 구체적으로 어떠한 정신화 양식과 관련 있는지를 구체적으로 고려하였으며, 대학 상담 장면에서 친밀한 관계 맺기에 어려움을 호소하는 내담자에게 어떻게 개입할 것인지에 대한 치료적 함의를 제시하였다.

Abstract

This study examined the mediating effect of the modes of mentalization in the relationship between adult attachment (attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance) and romantic relationship satisfaction among university students. A survey was conducted on 245 students enrolled in universities in Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-do, and 216 responses were used in the analysis. The study findings revealed that attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance were found to be related to different modes of mentalization. Both deficits of affection awareness and concrete thinking were found to completely mediate the relationship between attachment anxiety and romantic relationship satisfaction. Additionally, both direct and indirect effects were not significant between attachment avoidance and romantic relationship satisfaction. These findings suggest that distorted mentalization attributed to increased attachment anxiety impairs romantic relationship satisfaction, whereas distorted mentalization caused by increased attachment avoidance does not affect romantic relationship satisfaction. The relationship between the modes of mentalization and the dimensions of adult attachment was specifically considered in this study. Furthermore, therapeutic implications for intervention strategies with clients who complain of difficulties in establishing intimate relationships in the university counseling scene were also discussed.
