Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to analyze the effects of joining EU and euro zone on the specializations of export and import industries in Czech and Slovakia. After 2000, Both countries' export industry specialization indices increased especially in the late 2000s. This implies that the increase in the indices depends more on trades with non-EU member countries than on with EU members. In case of Slovakia which joined euro zone, its export industry specialization index has risen when it was computed with euro zone members. Net export specialization index for Czech has been not much varying but for Slovakia it tends to decrease. This shows that the intra-industry trades in these countries have increased after 2000s.
