탈북대학생 학업중단 요인과 지원 방안 : 위험요인과 보호요인의 탐색

본 연구는 탈북대학생들의 학업중단 위험요인과 보호요인을 탐색하고 지원방안을 모색하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 탈북청소년 대안학교 및 관련 교육지원 단체의 협조를 받아 휴학, 제적 및 자퇴 등 학업중단의 경험이 있거나 중단을 고려하고 있는 탈북대학생 15명을 대상으로 심층면담을 실시하였다. 연구결과, 학업중단의 위험요인은 학업 관련 요인과 건강 관련 요인으로 나타났고, 보호요인은 사회심리 관련 요인으로 나타났다. 위험요인인 학업 관련 요인은 전공 정보 부족, 기초학력 부족, 남북한 교육 문화 차이로 나타났다. 건강 관련 요인은 신분노출에 대한 불안과 염려, 열등감과 부정적인 자기 인식으로 인한 위축감, 미래에 대한 불안감, 우울감과 무력감, 음주 문제로 나타났다. 보호요인으로 나타난 사회심리 관련 요인은 사회적 지지와 유능감이었다. 이상의 연구결과를 토대로 탈북대학생들의 학업중단을 예방하기 위한 지원 방안을 제언하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 탈북대학생의 학업중단 예방은 물론이고 남한 사회문화에 대한 적응유연성 향상 전략으로도 활용될 수 있을 것이다.
Abstract
The purpose of the study is to analyze the risk and protective factors of North Korean college students' academic withdrawal and find its support strategies. With the help of alternative schools for North Korean adolescents and related groups of education support, 15 North Korean college students, who had experience of taking a break from school, being expelled and dropped out of school, and is considering about withdrawing, were selected and an in-depth interview was conducted. As a result, the risk factor of academic withdrawal was defined as academic-related and health-related factor, and the protective factor as social psychological-related factor. Lack of information of the major and basic academic skills, and the different education culture between North and South Korea were shown as academic-related factors. Anxiety and concern of social identification expose, feeling of shrinkage due to the sense of inferiority and negative self-recognition, future anxiety, depression and feeling of helplessness, and drinking problem were shown as health-related factors. Competence and social support were shown as social psychological-related factors. Based on the result of the research, the research suggested a support strategy for the academic withdrawal of North Korean college students. The result of the research will be used as the prevention of academic withdrawal of North Korean college students and the strategy for a better adjustment to the social culture of South Korea.
