초록
This paper aims to explore Martin Heidegger's “Das Man” manifested in Samuel Beckett's works. In order to do that, first of all, I will define the concept of Heidegger's ‘Das Man’. According to Heidegger, ‘Das Man’ is in its everydayness lost in the collective inauthentic mass. So, this entity doesn't seek to understand the possibilities of its existence. There is “Das Man” in Beckett's works. ‘Das Man’ in Beckett' drama is divided into two types. Secondly, I will examine “Das Man” manifested in Beckett's works who doesn't have understanded itself in it's Being[Sein]. This entity lives in comfort given by everyday life, so has lost itself. In conclusion, I will investigate ‘Das Man’ manifested in Beckett's works who understands itself in it's Being. But without any hesitation, this entity chooses to become ‘Das Man’ in order to sustain its life in desperate situation. In other words, this entity endlessly plays meaningless games as a means to sustain its existence.
