초록
This study Employed Empirical Orthogonal Function (EOF) analysis to investigate the variability of Asian dust in East Asia-North Pacific and the impact of large-scale teleconnection patterns throughout the springtime from 1980 to 2021. Additionally, this study presented the contribution of large-scale teleconnection patterns. The first leading mode is associated with negative Niño 3.4 and negative Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO) patterns. The results of the composite analysis showed that these two patterns primarily influenced the Northwest Pacific, East Asia, North Pacific, and the Western regions of North America. For the second leading mode associated with the negative Pacific/North American (PNA) pattern, this pattern has an impact on Mongolia, northern part of East Asia, the Aleutian Islands, Alaska, and Canada. The positive Western Pacific (WP) pattern associated with the fourth leading mode influences the northern part of East Asia and the North Pacific at 40°N, and impacts Canada. Through multiple regression analysis and leave-one-out cross-validation (LOOCV), this study confirmed that the Niño 3.4 and PDO patterns are the primary factors on the interannual variability of the Asian dust.
