‘가사’ 및 ‘가정’ 과목의 탄생- 중국 현대 여성은 어떻게 형성되었는가 -

Abstract

My article is focusing on home economics education at girls' school of Shanghai in the modern China. In the early modern period, the contents related with home economics did not shape one systematic curriculum, but remained scattered in the other subjects. But as the home economics education fulfills the systematic aspects, the concept of woman has significant meaning. The textbook circulated in the early times has the name of home management(jiazheng) which is translated from Japan, and this book chiefly described home as the space of the management and supervision. Accordingly, woman has the figure of subject of management and supervision of family. When the home economics education is taken shape in the modern China, what is important is that it spreads through the establishment of scientific feature. Home economics education is incorporated in the modern discipline which is characteristic of the scientific. In doing so, householding duties are transformed in the social work. At the same time, woman constructed the new concept which has the complicated scientific knowledge beyond the simple handling and is called in the name of family and nation-state. Thus, the “home” which the lesson of home economics represents partitions off the renewal space that is different from the space of premodern home. Through the "householding duties" recaptured the new meaning, it is considered that "woman" presents the new lifestyle and mentality.
