The core of Piketty’s theory is the inequality r > g, and therefore, Marxists should consider first whether we can accept r > g and second whether how to understand this relationship from the Marxian viewpoint. This paper accepts the former question, and discusses the idea that inequality comes from labor exploitation using two types of Marxian Optimal Growth Model. This model aims to bridge mainstream growth model and Marxian exploitation theory. In this way, this paper supports Harvey’s comment on Piketty.
Abstract
The core of Piketty’s theory is the inequality r > g, and therefore, Marxists should consider first whether we can accept r > g and second whether how to understand this relationship from the Marxian viewpoint. This paper accepts the former question, and discusses the idea that inequality comes from labor exploitation using two types of Marxian Optimal Growth Model. This model aims to bridge mainstream growth model and Marxian exploitation theory. In this way, this paper supports Harvey’s comment on Piketty.
