‘데이트 성폭력’ 피해 경험과 인식의 여성주의적 분석

이 연구는 한국 사회에서 데이트 성폭력이 피해 여성의 입장에서 설명되고 있는가라는 문제의식에서 비롯되었다. 데이트과정에서 여성들이 겪은 불편하거나 강제적이었던 성행위 경험과 아울러 ‘데이트 성폭력’으로 인식하게 되는 과정을 살펴보기 위한 목적으로 심층면접법을 사용하였다. 대다수의 면접참여자는 10대 또는 20대 초반에 데이트 성폭력을 경험한 적이 있는 20대의 미혼 여성들이다. 심층면접 결과 밝혀낸 내용은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 성폭력 상황에 대한 해석은 여성 개인이 가지고 있는 성과 사랑에 대한 가치관의 영향을 받고 있었다. 둘째, 면접참여자들은 성폭력에 대한 인식을 구성하는 과정에서 성행위가 자신에게 어떠한 의미였고 성관계에서 자신의 위치가 어떠했는지에 대해 질문하게 되었다. 이 과정에서 자신의 경험을 성폭력으로 규정함과 동시에 이전 관계를 비판적으로 분석하는 저항의 힘을 갖게도 되었다. 셋째, 상대남성과의 관계단절 후 겪게 되는 강제적 성관계나 동영상 유포 협박 등의 ‘이별폭력’은 즉각 폭력이나 성폭력으로 인지되는 경향이 있다. 하지만 보복성 성폭력은 젠더계급에 기인하는 구조적 폭력으로 여성에게 커다란 공포심을 유발한다. 넷째, 데이트 성폭력은 피해자 비난담론을 포함하여 피해자에게 잘못과 책임을 따지는 사회구조적인 폭력성을 지니고 있었다. 자신의 경험을 성폭력으로 구성하고 연애관계를 문제화하는 것은 '젠더감수성'을 갖는 과정이며 동시에 자신이 경험의 주체임을 분명히 인식했다는 점에서 중요한 의미를 갖는다.
Abstract
This study started from the awareness of a problem whether sexual assault in dating relationships had been understood by the female victim's perspectives in Korean society. The main purpose of the study is to analyze the damage of sexual assault in dating relationships and the reconstruction process of recognition from feminist perspectives. As a research method, we used in-depth interviews. Most of the research participants are single women who have experienced sexual assault in dating relationships at the age of teens or early twenties. The findings are as follows. First, the interviewee’s interpretation of the situation in which the sexual assault occurred is highly influenced by each woman’s understanding of sexuality and love. Second, the female victim reinterprets the meaning of the sexual relationship with the man in the reconstitution process of the sexual assault and recognizes her position in a new way. This redefinition of the sexual behavior as 'sexual assault' is the process of having power of resistance that enables her to overcome the damage. Third, the farewell violence such as compulsory sexual behavior or threat of videos spread after severing relations with the man were recognized immediately as violence or sexual abuse. Fourth, the sexual assault in dating relationships contains social structural violence issue that deals with the reproach discourse of female victims and does not include the concept of support or consolation for the victims. In such circumstances when the victim finally confesses her experience of assault to someone, even trivial reaction of the 'listener' can significantly change her awareness.
