Abstract
A high power amplifier with large efficiency and low cost is now in demand. Digital predistortrer can be one of the solutions for improving the efficiency and cost. We implemented a digital predistorter for the non-linear high power amplifier used in the multi-carrier CDMA systems. The high power amplifier for the wideband system has not only the non-linearisties but also significant memory effects that distort the original signal. The memory effects are getting dominant as the signal bandwidth increases. The high power amplifier is modeled as a non-linear filter and the modeling is used to find an appropriate predistorter algorithm in the simulation level. The modeling validation was done by performance comparison between the simulation and experimental results. The implemented digital predistorter has more than 15% efficiency at 60-Watts output power and shows more than 15dB spurious cancellation by compensating memory effects as well as non-linearities in the high power amplifiers.
